Fire Prevention
by: Bologna | edited by: Brittany

Sims live, they learn, and then they die. However sometimes their time comes early, for example: death by fire is one of the most common deaths in the game. What is this death by fire? Well, it’s pretty self explanatory. Maybe John Sim is in the kitchen cooking up an omelet, but it’s his first time and he just barely has the required cooking skill. Well, before he knows it, the stove bursts into flames and a fire has erupted! Sims from all over the household will crowd around the stove screaming in terror. And let’s face it, Sims aren’t the most intelligent computer animated pixels, they just will not leave the kitchen and sadly, they may die. But we love all of our Sims, right? So here are a few ways to avoid, or handle, nasty fires.
Of course, the best, most sure fire way to prevent a cooking fire is to only cook what you know. Now, the option to cook something of a high level isn’t even available for your Sims until they reach that certain level, but that doesn’t mean it’s always safe to cook it. The closer your Sims’ skill is to the required level, the worse. Your Sim must have a cooking level of 4 to make an omelet in the morning, so I recommend holding off on the omelet until they reach a cooking level of 6.  This ensures they are better chefs, with a less likely chance of burning food or starting fires. Now, if you really want to be safe, getting them to a cooking level of 10 isn’t a bad idea.
Well, maybe your Sim does have a good cooking skill level, but perhaps she’s tired because somehow a fire did start. What now? First off, go to the other Sims on the lot right away. They will immediately run to the fire unless you direct them otherwise. So start getting them outside, and if possible, try to find a route away from the kitchen. Once you direct them the first time, (because it will probably take many) head over to the Sim cooking. They will not run away, you can try, but they won’t. Attempt to direct them to a close phone and call the fire department, then have them start to extinguish the fire themselves. Now’s the time to go back to all other Sims on the lot and really make sure they are outside. Once they are, make them interact with each other, and if the Sim inside can’t get to a phone have another Sim call the fire department.
The last piece of advice I could give you would be to make sure you have a couple of phones throughout the house, one in the kitchen definitely, but not near the stove! Or better yet, install a smoke detector, because then you won’t have to spend time calling the fire department! So hopefully now that you know, you’ll be able to keep your Sims safer in a fire emergency! (Or you’ll know what not to do if there is a Sim you really hate). Healthy Habits

Make your Sims neat and they will never eat spoiled food. They also clean up after themselves and have fun while doing so!
Make your Sims sloppy and they'll make messes faster. They will also lick plates clean, give themselves sponge baths, and eat from the garbage.
